The Aircraft

The scheme is currently operating an August 2004 Robinson R44 Clipper 2.

Choosing a Clipper 2 gives significant safety advantages when flying over water such as when flying along the Thames in Central London or flying over lakes and other large bodies of water.

Being a Clipper 2 the aircraft benefits from an improved payload and fuel injection, which removes the need for the pilot to remember to select carb heat.

  • As of March 2017 the aircraft was overhauled -
up to 144 months and 2200 hours available
  • Leather Seats
  • 7 Hole Panel with AI / DI / Mode S Transponder
  • 4 * BOSE noise cancelling headsets (Pilot A20 / Passengers AviationX)
  • Multipoint Seat Belts
  • Pop out emergency floats for landing on water
  • Silver paint scheme
  • Fully maintained to the highest standard

The aircraft is currently Hangared and Maintained at Denham with HQ Aviation. As such the group benefits from instruction from ex Helicopter World Champion Quentin Smith and his small team of highly experienced Instructors, as well as being based at a helicopter friendly aerodrome that's easy to get to from London and the home counties.
